After having selected 14 new FabSpaces in various countries worldwide at the end of 2017, the FabSpace 2.0 project officially inaugurated the first joint activity of the fourteen new FabSpaces. This happened during the FabSpace 2.0 Workshop on Sharing Practices to Spread the FabSpace Spirit, which took place in Warsaw, Poland, on the 31st of January. The workshop was held at the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer Management of Warsaw University of Technology. Among the newly admitted FabSpaces, our lab was represented by Fabio Dell'Acqua, who presented our activities and envisaged how the FabSpace network will further boost the lab commitment to technological transfer and innovation in space-related technology.

Prof Alejandro C. Frery, a distinguished lecturer of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, and the current Vice Rector for Research of the Universidade Federal de Alagoas (Brazil) is coming to visit the laboratory in early March (March 6 to 9). Thanks to the support by ERASMUS Overseas, he will be able to teach a short course on "Statistical analysis of SAR images", in line with his recently transmitted webinar.

In the end of January, dr. Marinoni has been invited by prof. Jocelyn Chanussot and prof. Christian Jutten to visit Gipsa-Lab at Grenoble INP, Grenoble, France, to give a talk on recent advancements in hypergeometric analysis for nonlinear pattern recognition, with special focus to multimodal and multisource remote sensing-based applications. This event has been developed as part of the framework of the ERC Advanced Project “Chess”, managed by prof. Jutten.

On 9th January, the local newspaper "La Provincia Pavese" has published an article reporting the accession of the Telecommunication and Remote Sensing Lab to the "FabSpace 2.0" network. This latter is a network of laboratories committed to open innovation based on geospatial and space data in the context of Universities 2.0; a one-stop shop-access to space-related data as well as free software and processing tools to develop new digital applications.
