Francesco Tarantola was born in Broni, Italy, on Sept. 23, 1976.

He received the Laurea Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pavia, Italy, in 2001 with the thesis "Trasmissione su rete IP di video MPEG-2 codificato con scalabilità SNR" (Transmission of MPEG-2 videos, with SNR scalability, over IP network).
